Alli Linked to Severe Liver Damage

Here we go again….

I am posting this information because honestly, I was going to try this Alli product. I had done some research on it and was prepared to give it a try after I stopped breastfeeding….good thing I didn’t. Its getting frustrating — there doesn’t seem to be any product that is created these days that is safe for women to take to lose weight. OTC and prescription meds and products are just NOT safe so PLEASE, stay away from them.

Since 1999, there have been 32 adverse event reports linking orlistat (the main ingredient in Alli) to severe liver damage. Twenty-seven patients have been hospitalized for liver problems, and six suffered from outright liver failure. Both of the cases involving Alli took place within the United States, while the other 30 cases, involving Xenical, all took place in other countries.

Obviously, this is a product anyone wants to stay away from, but especially PCOS’ers — remember we have a higher chance of NAFLD. Our livers are already working overtime so adding medications, and such will only increase our chances of liver problems.

Most of us want a way to lose weight – we’ve fought with this for years and are tired of the fight. I am right with you. While herbs have helped me lose weight in the past, I figured on trying this Alli product because of all the good I heard about it. I quickly learned to follow my gut, stay away from all prescription meds and OTC products for weight loss and stick to the herbs and natural supplements like Sx fraction, Inositol, Choline, etc.
