Avoid prescription meds…GO HERBAL!

You all know my stand on prescription meds in regards to controlling PCOS. I’m not completely against medications, there are times when they’re warranted and SHOULD be used. However for the most part, they should be avoided.

While docs pass them out like candy, they refuse to admit the incredible safety hazards that accompany such drugs. Birth Control Pills are the most commonly prescribed drug for PCOS, with docs swearing its the wonder drug that will not only cure your cysts but regulate your periods, and basically make your PCOS all better. When in reality, BCP’s not only make insulin resistance worse, but worsen PCOS in general AND cause a number of health risks including stroke, heart attacks, blood clots, high blood pressure, etc. Women with PCOS already have an higher risk of getting all of those conditions but doctors don’t mention that.

Basically, every medication has a side affect and a health risk to it. While it does depend on your overall health (as to what, if any, affects you experience) there are some that are just NOT good for you no matter how healthy you are. It seems the more medications are made, especially the new ones they are coming out with for EVERY health issue, the more side affects and complications we hear about.

Avandia has become a quite popular drug for PCOS. Its similar to Metformin but supposedly works better in “controlling your insulin resistance” and helping you lose weight. I honestly cannot say if it works or not, I have never used it, and those that I have spoken to who have used it weren’t all that impressed.

Avandia has become quite popular with the media lately due to all the horrible side affects and incredibly serious health risks it gives. Again, just another reason to Go Herbal.

As this article states, insulin resistance AND even diabetes can be controlled and cured completely without the use of medications (FYI – NO diabetic drug can cure insulin resistance or diabetes)

This is an excellent article, that I recommend you read in its entirety. Controlling or even curing insulin resistance can do so much for your body, and for your PCOS !
