It’s just ONE sweet…even with insulin resistance, what can it hurt?

Yes, I will be completely up front in admitting I say this…. a lot. Despite following the Low GI diet I still cheat. I always will, its just me. I was raised in a home where potatoes, breads and sweets were their own food group. Its so hard to re-train yourself, especially as an adult. Although I’ve given up white bread, pastas, etc. for whole grains and I have a potato once in a while…the sweets are still a difficult thing for me to abstain from. I like food, my whole family does. I will eat healthy, and exercise but I am not made to be one who eats healthy all the time. I will still have a sweet/treat now & then.

Or will I? I just read this article and it gave me a bit too much information…..definitely more than I wanted to know…

Do you realize how long it would take you to “work off” a single donut? What about a single scoop of ice cream? You may think, maybe a 30-minute workout at most…Can’t be more than that, can it? It is a sweet, but its such a tiny amount….. Well, read this article and you will likely be shocked as I was.

It makes you put things in perspective. While I will continue to have a treat now & then, as should everyone (in moderation) I will not be able to eat it without my head telling me, “its going to take you an hour to work this off!”. Which is not necessarily a bad thing, especially when weight loss is key to those of us trying for a baby.
