Strawberries Stimulate Metabolism
PCOS’ers have trouble with weight – its a well known
fact. We’re not lazy, we don’t eat 24/7…its called
insulin resistance. One of the problems with insulin resistance is our bodies take food and turn it into fat, NOT energy. Another symptom of IR is food cravings.
PCOS is stressful, as is infertility. So I’m sure many of you have the same trouble I do — emotional eating and it is something that is hard to overcome. You try to find something good to eat, but only want, (to quote from the movie Shrek) “something deep fried and smothered in chocolate!!!”
Strawberries have been labeled as the fruit that can increase a hormone that stimulates metabolism, suppresses appetite, and controls blood sugar after starchy meals while inhibiting inflammation. This craved hormone that strawberries trigger, adiponectin, is the fat burning hormone that works with the hormone leptin, the hormone responsible for weight loss and gain. Having high levels of adiponectin in the blood stream has been shown to lower the risk of heart attack while lower levels of adiponectin are indicative of obesity.
I personally LOVE strawberries. They give me the sweetness I crave, yet are still good for me. Now I have another reason to eat them!
